How to keep your home safe

Gas safety

Your gas appliances need to be serviced every 12 months. This is important to make sure that poisonous carbon monoxide gas is not being released into your home. We will carry out that work and you have a duty to allow us to do so.

We will find a suitable time with you to do this. It will take about 30 minutes and will include checking your gas meter and taking the cover off your boiler to check inside.

If you fail to let us carry out this work we may apply for a court order to get into your home and we will charge you for any costs we have to pay to do so.

Leaseholders can also arrange to have their gas serviced by one of our contractors. You can contact PH Jones on 0800 0725235 to  request a service. They will charge £54.99 for this service.

Fire safety

You should install smoke alarms on each level of your home. These are cheap and easy to fit and available from any DIY shop. Remember to keep them free of dust and test them once a week.

Asbestos

We follow clear regulations for finding and removing asbestos.

When someone leaves a property, we will carry out an assessment to see if there is any asbestos present. If so, we will do any necessary work to make sure that the property is fit to be let.

If you move into your new home and find asbestos, we will tell you where it is and what type of asbestos it is.

Never try to remove asbestos yourself. If you are concerned about asbestos in your property, or you need any more information, contact the customer service centre on 01438 242666. They will answer any questions or concerns that you have.
