Having a scooter
You are only allowed a scooter if you can park it and use it sensibly. You cannot store scooters in shared areas and corriders of blocks of flats or sheltered accomoodation because this is a fire risk and is not allowed in any circumstances.
If you live in a house or bungalow you should also think carefully about how to store a scooter and avoid blocking fire-escape routes.
We are currently working on a scooter policy which will set out more clearly the circumstances in which you can have a scooter and what you must do to make sure it is not a hazard.
If you feel you need to be referred to an occupational health therapist to more fully conisder your needs for a scooter, you can ring Social Services direct on 01438 737400 to ask for an assessment. If you need more advice please phone our Customer Service Centre on 01438 242666.
