If you have adults living with you that are not in education they will have to contribute to your rent.
You may have seen or heard about changes the Government are making to the benefit system. This will affect you if you have someone living with you who is classed as a non dependant. A non dependant is someone who normally lives with the Housing Benefit claimant such as an adult son, daughter, relative or friend.
The amount charged for a non dependant differs depending on the non dependant’s circumstances and these will be affected from April 2011. As a tenant you should make sure that anyone who is classed as a non dependant pays their contribution towards your rent charge.
If you have any queries about what you or your non dependants should pay please telephone your income adviser on 01438 242666
