Our anti-social behaviour team and the Police presented the 2010 Capable Guardians Award to residents of Cavell Walk.
They were rewarded for helping to rally residents together to collect evidence of anti-social behaviour. Stevenage Homes and the Police used their evidence to help stop it happening again.
Their contribution will enable us to:
• Explore successful methods for handling anti-social behaviour cases
• Learn effective ways to support and protect witnesses and their identities
• Discover how community engagement can help tackle the fear of crime and encourage witnesses to give evidence
• Gain good practice for supporting witnesses and victims during and after the trial process
What can be done to tackle anti-social behaviour?
Tackling anti-social behaviour is not just down to one person or service, it affects the whole community. The Police, Stevenage Homes and the Council rely on the community to report incidents of anti-social behaviour.
Here’s what you should do:
• Ring the police on the non emergency number 0845 33 00 222
• If the threat is causing immediate danger call 999
• Report the incident to our anti-social behaviour team online at www.stevenagehomes.org.uk/antisocialbehaviour
All calls to the police are logged and these logs can be used as evidence if any court action is taken. The act of reporting an incident is valuable information even if the police do not attend.
Anti-social behaviour is not something individuals or communities have to put up with. As our capable guardians demonstrated, we can tackle it together.
