We are in the process of reviewing the way we will decide how council homes will be allocated in the future. We are seeking the views of as many people as possible about how we might frame our allocations scheme in the future.
In the past, our decisions about who should be eligible for a council home have been greatly influenced by government legislation and guidance.
New guidance has now been published that gives us much more flexibility to decide who should be able to join our housing register and who we prioritise for housing.
We are in the process of reviewing our existing housing allocations scheme and would like to hear your views on some of the issues arising from this. To help us gather residents' opinions on key issues arising from the housing allocations review please complete the online survey (link available below).

We suggest you look at our factsheet "Have your say on council housing" before you complete the survey.
We also have the flexibility to decide what type of tenancy we offer in the future. We could decide to offer new tenants fixed term tenancies as well as the traditional lifetime tenancy that we currently use.
We must publish a Tenancy Strategy and a Tenancy Policy that states what type of tenancy we will offer and under what conditions and we would like to take the opportunity, using this survey to find out your views. You can read about fixed term tenancies in the factsheet.
The deadline for completing the survey was Friday, 12th October 2012.
