Stevenage Homes customers are being given another opportunity to develop their DIY skills at The Bowes Lyon Centre on Thursday 18 November.

Between 9:30am and 12:30pm training on tiling, wallpapering, painting and basic plumbing skills will be provided by staff from Apollo Group, Breyer Group, MITIE and Wheldons Contracts. Buildbase will also be on hand to show people how to safely use power tools.

The aim of the training is to help tenants to undertake basic DIY safely and to a good standard. Debbie Rabôt, director of housing and customer service explains.

‘What makes a house or flat into a home is being able to decorate it to your own taste and keep it in good order. These training events will give tenants the confidence to tackle simple DIY tasks, knowing that they are doing a good job and helping to ensure that they are working safely. Gaining these skills will help tenants save money and take pride in their homes.’

Twenty five tenants are already booked to take part in the training but more spaces are available. To book contact the resident involvement team on 01438 242183 or email resident.involvement@stevenagehomes.org.uk.

Tenants that take part will also be offered a 25% discount at Buildbase on selected tools and materials.
