At Stevenage Homes we believe that customers should be at the heart of the work that we do… How do we know this? Because our customers have told us!

We set up our resident inspector programme back in 2009, to give customers the opportunity to inspect our services and suggest ways we can improve.

Since the project began inspections have been carried out in our Communications, Caretaking, Grounds Maintenance and Empty Homes’ services. We are now looking for new recruits so that more of our customers can inspect our services and help us to improve. Not only does this project help us improve the services that we provide to you, but as an inspector you will gain skills that may be used in employment, or you just boost your confidence in your own skills and abilities.

Over the couple of years that the project has been running, one former inspector is now a local councillor in Stevenage, and four of our inspectors have gained accreditation under the Herts Community Safety Accreditation Scheme. This was a first for a social landlord, and to top that, two of our inspectors became the first women to be accredited under this scheme.

Stevenage Homes can offer you a taster training session on inspections and mystery shops. If you choose to become an inspector we fully support you by providing any further training that you need and we pay you back for travel and other reasonable costs.

If you would like more information on the Resident Inspector programme, or the Community Safety Accreditation Scheme, please call the Resident Involvement team on (01438) 242 183 or email resident.involvement@stevenagehomes.org.uk
